I got 2 positive responses from orkut members in DC.
One said Oh ok, I will.. so this person didn't even know about it until after seeing the scrap.
Yes I posted scraps on individual members' scrapbooks, not just community posts.
I suggest if you are on orkut, scrap any and every one in DC communities, if a lot of people ask them to come, they will know how important it is!!

First thanks to those who put there first hand experience in this thread, it made me think again. And now I am deciding to cross the border and go north, after 9+ years in US on H1b.
Could someone please refer a Do-it-yourself kit that they have used and/or immigration consultant?
I contacted one consultant, they email almost every week and when I called/emailed them saying I am ready to pursue there has been no response from other side yet.
It will be great help for me if you could refer a kit or a consultant.
Looking forward to join H1->Canada community :D

Earlier when there was a long list of 8 to 10 members, folks takes a time to react and start calling in heavy numbers..
May be in future.. They can just give 2 to 3 reps and focus heavily for 2-3 days and then in second phase , second list targeting 2-3 members more.... and eventually one person gets the task to motivate members on one perticular sets of members and some one else can motivate for anohter list.

Assuming no relief for immigration system as a whole, EB3 India will move forward substantially only during last quarter of the FY.
Rest of the times, it will be in 2001 or 1999 or even pre-immigration years. You never know.
The least preferred category among EB (taking the country tab in to account) is EB3 - India.
Isn't that a privilege to us?

Well, I've got a few reasons.
1. I don't like the attitude that comes along with the people that speak it.
2. I just don't like the language.
3. I don't live anywhere close to a place where I must know Hindi to survive.
4. The Indian Constitution recognises English as a subsidiary official language.
5. If I have survived as long as I have without knowing Hindi, I'm sure I can survive without knowing Hindi for the rest of my life.

Initially when I first got here, I was elated at a wonderful process to elect the President. It seems like the whole country was interviewing the person for a position. After having witnessed the one in 2000, 2004 and now this one, the entire questioning process is a waste of time and mere charade.
The issues at hand are so go damn complex where no one liners or one minuters could do justice. They always seem to have answers for every god damn question which is just impossible. Even the most intelligent person usually comes to an area where he has not framed his answer and would like to consult.
Specialized topic like Stem Cells to global issues of Global Warming, War, Poverty and very personal issues like religion and abortion, these folks seem to have the right answer in one minute.
By listening to their answers, you are generally getting deceived. While all this is said and done, people however 'third-world' or 'first-world' they are seem to vote for the party and not the person. So, war-mongers and most arrogant pricks would still vote for McCain and others may end up with Obama.
After all this rant, what does it mean for us in terms of legal immigration? Nothing -- coz you really do not know what they actually think and will do when they become one.

Not necessarily getGC. I am EB3 but i am a Masters from the US. Sometimes for fresh hires lawyers play it safe by applying in EB3. I had emailed someone at competeamerica.com and they had mentioned that an "advanced degree" is either a masters or a PhD. You mentioned that you had an engineering degree from India. Is that a B.E. or an M.Tech/M.E.? If you have a master's degree from India, you need to ask ur lawyer if that qualifies as an advanced degree.
But even otherwise, it still benefits you, coz say even 20-25% of Current EB3 have master's degrees, they will be out of the queue and you will be benefitted. I know it doesnt sound like a benefit, coz it is not a direct one, but if you look at it from a different angle, you will see it.

Every airlines has its onw set of issues - u will get the pinch only when shit hits the fan. My bags were stranded in Dubai and when I reached Chennai I had nothing with me except a small bag with no clothes.
The agents told me - if you have Indian passport then Emirates will give you $$ compensation per day but if you have American passport Emirates will give $$$ per day. They reimbursed me for 2 sets of clothes and shoes and $50 per day for three days because my bags arrived one by one on the third and fourth day after calling them everyday and pressurising them. If we did not call them - the bags would come slower than that. In Dubai the bags were in hot sun and I had choclates inside and somehow the cover broke and choclates melted and seeped through and a I think you all can imagine how it is.
What I am saying is - things are good everywhere unless we get into issues. Things were good until Retrogression hit us here. Now we complain about difference in treatment - but earlier wenever complained.
What I am saying is - when dealing with things outside of your home country - you cannot expect or assume fairness to you.
I dont understand your logic :confused: Every airline can have its own set of rules that doesnt mean they have the right to discriminate. You quoted your bad experience with Emirates while someone else had a good experience. So now we know that emirates also has some discriminatory rules.

My experience is that whether an attorney is good or bad depends on the size of the sponsoring company. My boyfriend was working for a big company and got a really great service with Ogletree Deakins who have offices all over the US. When I was experiencing problems with my attorney, he highly recommended Ogletree and my employer contacted them, and our experience was really bad - they promised a lot of things, then realized it was a small company and was not so interested anymore.
That's why after LC got approved, we decided to file everything pro-se. We have had 3 different attorneys. My case started in 2001 and got stuck in BEC and a PERM case was filed to try to capture my PD from 01, and by looking at my signature you can guess what happened. So, lots of experience with attorneys, not one that could recommend.

I came to know of this site last december untill I met one of the admnstrator who had come down here for a conference.Since then I have advocated this site to so many people and in my company its a Fortune 500 company we have lot of diverse memberships like Indian ,Chinese and various other countries memberships in our company.In our indian club we have about 100 employees of indian working for this company.Apart from circulating the site I have made it a policy of calling up people on phone every weekend and telling them about this site and work lying in front of us to get it done this year.
Do you think that I am helping this site or the IV core.NO I am helping myself.So please be consructive and help the cause and help yourself.
If you are not really convinced about the direction of the efforts of the members of this site.You are entitled to walk out.Its a free country.But before you post any message give it a thought and think about the cause rather than people or IV core.
